Applications for the role of Musical Director for our Minack show 2015 - 'The Sorcerer' have reopened. This will be an exciting opportunity for any experienced Musical Directors who would like the chance to be involved in what is sure to be a wonderful production.

What is the best way to bring happiness to a rural village in Cornwall? What is it that their lives are missing? If you were Alexis Pointdextre, son of the local Lord and Captain of the Grenadier Guards then you would know the answer: LOVE

The Sorcerer charts Alexis’ attempts to bring happiness to the people of Ploverleigh by hiring John Wellington Wells, a Sorcerer, to use dark magic and create a love potion. However, as the villagers begin to forget their old loves and become deeply infatuated by the first person they see, will the spell prove a success? Will the villagers be truly happy with their new situation? What is the source of John Wellington Wells powers? And why does everyone seem less and less like their old selves?

The Sorcerer was the first full-length operetta by W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, the writers of such classic stories as The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance. During their lives The Sorcerer was often toted as their greatest accomplishment. This production will incorporate many of the elements that were present on opening night and removed by subsequent productions, including some that were previously thought lost.
